I have a wonderful life! I can't stop smiling today...for I have two healthy babies! It's unbelieveable how much this pregnancy can changed me. I'm not someone who finds it easy to cry infront of others and this has always bothered me. I'm not sure why I have this insecurity issue because I am deeply moved by emotions quite often. I just always hold it inside. Since this pregnancy started, I've opened up completely and hope more than anything I can embrace this 'new me' even after the babies arrive.
.....Yesterday we had our first appointment with the Perinatologist at Utah Valley Hospital. Talk about an indepth ultrasound. It took hours to complete. The Doctor checked every little detail that could be studied through an ultrasound. She was very pleased and said I have a great situation. Their hearts had four chambers, brains were perfect, high amniotic fliud, liver, bladder, kidneys, great bone structure, etc. Each baby had 10 fingers and 10 toes and all the while I couldn't stop the silent tears from streaming. It felt so good to cry. I kept saying over and over again how blessed I felt. If everything continues to go well, she says I'm set to deliver 6 pound babies. They are only measuring one day apart from each other which is phenomenol- she said they see twin babies everyday measuring drastically different at 20 weeks.
***My only downfall is they've discovered, through my blood, that I've become enemic. Which would explain why I'm still so tired all the time. The additional iron tablet they gave me should help increase the oxygen intake within my red blood cells. We were also cautioned about baby A's placenta. It's located infront semi-over the cervix...in other words in the placenta previa family. As the babies grow it should move up which is good and bad for the very position it's in. (most likely I'll have a c section because of this if it doesn't become harmful) Overall, it went really well considering I had every negative sign of pregnancy since day one. I PRAY the placenta doesn't tear away from her as she grows. Someone is watching over us!!
Now for the funniest and most shocking news of all..... we did have one small problem with our boy. He seemed to be missing his 'boy parts' HAHAHAHA --

Yep, I've been carrying
2 GIRLS!!!!!
My previous ultrasounds were wrong and I guess my intuition was right. Baby A was never a boy to begin with! No wonder she kicks me more than her sister. Oh my gosh! You should have seen my face, it felt like it was on fire and I grabbed Shanes hand and cried for a minute. To be honest I'm not really sure why- maybe I got used to the idea of a boy and a girl. After the shock wore off and I stopped sweating I couldn't stop laughing. Shane says, "looks like we'll have to return a few things" TWO GIRLS?? I love it! I really do. So does Shane. I always thought it was two girls but when we were told boy/girl, in more than one ultrasound, its easy to reverse the mind and start planning. Bottom line is this- Shane will be great with girls and I couldn't say that about every guy. My husband will be soooo good to them. I've seen things within him that nobody else has seen. These girls are dang lucky to have him as their father!
What was the best part of the 3 hour appt you ask?
It's a toss up between: finding out our babies are healthy and Shane saying "I love all my girls!" As he kisses my forehead and pats my tummy.
It is a wonderful life!

I was right! hahah Congratulations. That is so exciting! I'm just glad to hear they are healthy. That is the best appointment. To know and see that they are doing good means so much!
Personally I think GIRLS are the only way to go!!
WOW!! Yeah, I am so excited for you Truly. Mother's intuition is amazing. I am glad to hear you all are doing good. Keep eating girl and can't wait to see those precious girls.
Take care
your belly is just beautiful!!
I was very, very lucky and until I went into labor my pregnancy was perfect. Brady and Easton always looked healthy and always measured within a few weeks of each other.
I went into labor at exactly 29 weeks but they were able to keep me pregnant until almost 33 weeks. I don't know about Lake Powell, that is hard. If you go just take it really easy even if you are feeling really good. That was my problem, I felt so good so I was doing everything and anything and I think that contributed to my preterm labor.
Like I said before we will be there most of September and I am dying to see you :) Let me know if you have any questions. You can call me anytime!
hi there. It's the same girl who made your cake and I just wanted to say thanks for the tip on the vanilla pudding for the custard. I made it again and it was so much easier and soooo good. Also- Congrats on the girls. I have a brother who lives in Lehi and they had twin girls about 3 years ago and they are so precious! you will love it!
Congrats you guys! How fun 2 girls. Shane is going to be the best dad. Now he has 3 girls to take care of - lucky him!! Thanks for sharing everything. I don't know you but I know Shane and it is so fun to see what is going on with you guys.
Wow!!! What crazy news that you are having two girls, especially after two ultrasounds saying otherwise. Congrats!!! Girls are so fun and how wonderful to have a sister.
I am so glad to hear that the babies are healthy. That really is amazing after your long and hard pregnancy.
Keep us posted
Congrats Truly! How fun to have twin girls..especially the dressing up part! And they will be so close growing up! Although I wanted a little girl, I was so excited to have same gender twins!
Wow! 3 hours! Those level 2 ultrasounds really are long..my back was killing me and mine was only 2 hours!
That is so cute what Shane said.
Also, my blog isnt on private anymore so you are welcome to see my twin adventure if you'd like:)
Good luck with baking those babies as long as you can (even though you'll so want it to come sooner!) My babies were also 6 pounders!
Congratulations you guys! Wow What a trip I can't believe you were totally preparing yourself for one of each and found out you're getting two little girls! That's so great, baby girls are to die for!! (I'm a little biased at this point) I'm so excited for you! PS you were totally in my dream last night Truly! We were hanging out and you were telling me you were gonna have the babies naturally and I was like freaking out telling you you HAD to get an epidural! I was way pushy about it, too! haha I woke up like "what?!" Yes I did have an epi and once I got it was very grateful but I don't even feel that strongly about the epi vs. natural so it's hilarious I was like being a bully in my dream about it... so random!
truly- this is brittany (formerly reynolds) faiga who used to work at the BL- i just wanted to say congrats congrats congrats!!! i'm so happy everything worked out after the couple of scares ! i hope you are doing well and i hope you don't mind my peeking in on your blog every now and then! Oh, and girl, get some sleep whenever you can!
All Daddy and I could do when you told us you were having two GIRLS was LAUGH! How great! Boy, I sure thought it was one of each, but I was wrong. Oh my goodness, two sweetness girls. I can just see them now all dressed up in their matching outfits with bows in their hair and coordinating shoes and everything else. I'm sooo happy for you and Shane, and yes, I agree, he will be an incredible father! Oh, and take Meradith's advice and have the epidural!! Love, Mom
