(I wrote this post last year and I wanted to share it again this year. I've had 'Septempber 11th' on my mind all day...my thoughts have been with the families who were indirectly involved with this horrifying tradegy as well as the men/women who fearlessly defended and protected us.
The scouts in our neighborhood put up flags 5 times a year... today obviously wasn't one of them. I am SO DISAPPOINTED in my ward)

"Tomorrow New York is going to be here and we're going to rebuild, and we're going to be stronger than we were before... terrorism can't stop us."

I love this country with all my heart. I'm so proud to be an American I could stand on my roof and shout it for all to hear. We are so blessed to be able to reap the blessings of freedom. Yet in order to be worthy of this blessing, I feel we must undergo the fatiques of supporting it!
September 11 was an awful; nightmare of a day. Where were you? Do you remember what you were doing when you heard the news? I wish we could all think back to that time and remember how unified we were. This tragic event brought us closer together-- I only wish it lasted forever. It's sad it took such a life-changing experience to get us to reach out, be vulnerable and thankful. I love the devoted men and women who humbly risked their lives, and many who actually lost theirs, to save a perfect stranger. What an honorable way to give your life! Patriotism, to me, is much much more than an outburst of emotion; it's a lifetime of dedication.

(Stay tuned I've got an insane and obscene amount of pictures to post! ...4 months worth!)

I absolutely ONE HUNDRED PERCENT agree, Truly. I am so ridiculously proud to be American I think it gets annoying to some people. When I think about where I get to live it literally brings tears to my eyes. I believe that real patriotism is passionate. I remember where I was that day, and will NEVER forget. Never forget the heroes who died that day. Thanks for your post. Sadly, I think too many people are beginning to treat this as just another day. But we will never be one of them!!!
Amen to that! What a beautiful post, Tru. Dad and I wore red, white, and blue to work, flew our flag outside the house, and attached flags to our vehicles. Sadly, only about five other homes in our neighborhood were flying flags, we were the only people driving with a flag (at least from what we could see), and hardly anyone wore the colors. We were sad. One of my clients actually forgot what day it was. Can you believe that? I'm proud to be an American, and proud that you are too! We must have done something right!!! Parents need to instill patriotism in their children, or children will never know what an absolute priviledge it is to be an American. Are you registered to vote in Utah yet? If not, get moving!!! Take care of those babies!! Love, Mom
I'm proud to be an American too! I remember everything about where I was and what I was doing and how I felt. I'll never forget!
Our ward planted flags on all houses in our neighborhood (ward) and I was so impressed - it really made me think how people start to take it for granted. Looking forward to those pictures. Love and kisses
