Words Cannot Express...

(this is a BIG combination of 5-6 posts about the babies & I specifically chose this song))
On a snowy Thursday afternoon, December 18th, I was part of the biggest miracle of my life. The most spiritual, awe inspiring miracle of my entire existance happened before my very eyes and words cannot express.

I didn't know my heart could feel so deeply and I never knew I could love something so much. On December 18th at 3:00 and 3:03pm my life changed forever.
It all began with 22 stimulated eggs produced from my ovaries, Doc was able to retrieve 18 out, 13 of those eggs fertilized and then became embryos, 7 out of the 13 were considered "good", 3 of those embryos survived all the growth stages, and 2 were inplanted back into my uterus....

...those 2 surviving embryos grew and grew and struggled and thrived with many ups and downs over the past 37 weeks. Overcoming severe hyperstimulation, two advanced sub chorionic hemorhages with nearly one blood transfusion, enemia, pre-eclampsia, high doppler blood flow through placentas, four months bed rest, admitted to overnight labor and delivery twice, 21 ultrasounds and 32 doctor visits and....

here's our two perfect blessings who fought long and hard to get here.

" Welcome Little Ones"

Ashton Elise:
Baby 'A'
5 pounds and 19 inches long
born 3:00pm

Lindsey Chase:
Baby 'B'
4 pounds 5 ounces and 17 inches long
born 3:03pm

I love you Lindsey and Ashton. I have waited so long to hold you. Your doctor has a great sense of humor and had dad and I laughing and having a good old time in the beginning of your delivery. Then just like that, as you were coming out, it was as though there were guardian angels with us in the delivery room watching over you two as you began your earthly life. For a small moment silence filled the room and I was so spiritually overwhelmed I could hardly breathe. You little girls truly are miracles meant to be here at this time. It's your turn on earth and I'm so glad you arrived.

Beautiful, just beautiful. Good job Truly and Shane. I know how hard you worked for this and now that the babies are here, well, it's just a miracle. You two are incredible, and Ashton and Lindsey are blessed to have you for parents. You were so tender and attentive to every little detail while I was helping, and I was very impressed at how natural parenting came to you both. I love you and those little grandbaby girls! See you again real soon. Now, try to get some sleep! (Yeah, right.) Love you!!!

Oh they are soo beautiful..you both look so incredibly happy and at peace. I'm so very happy for you and the wonderful outcome your story has had.
What a wonderful doctor and birth story you have..thank you for sharing it with us. My delivery with my second set of twins was very similar to yours. Baby A delivered head first and baby b was very stubborn and was in the worst possible position to deliver. But my doctor like yours was the BEST... Is it not the shock of your life to have the doctor go in after that baby! LOL...luckily it only took your doc 3 minutes, it took ours 30 minutes and the whole time they were setting up for the c-section and for him to say the word but he was persistent and on his last attempt to get ahold of ANY body part, (his back was facing out)our little guy kicked his foot right into the doctors hand. It was a miracle.
Congrats again on your beautiful little miracles...enjoy every minute. Give the breast feeding your best shot but don't feel like a failure if it does not work out. Its very hard..both of my sets of twins were preemies and could not get the hang of it. So I pumped and pumped...to ensure they at least got the good stuff in the beginning and then we switched to formula. I felt I did my best and that was what was most important.
Hang in there...the first few months are the hardest and then the fun begins!
Email me if you ever need any help, advise or just to commiserate in the hard times.

Wow woman! What a journey this last year has been for you! I am so happy for the both of you. I was smart to read your blog before applying any make up, with Binnie and Landon on my lap, Landon completely speechless every time he saw a picture of you and Binnie saying BABY! BABY! TRU! SHN! and tears streaming down my face as we've been reading the last 5-6 posts. What an exciting, overwhelming, incredible, tiring few weeks you have had. It only gets easier, afterall it can't get any harder right :0! Only YOU would have a darling hospital gown and look amazing after giving birth. I love the picture of your little gals in their matching carseats and blankies, you holding the two of them while you sleep and Shane looking like one proud daddy with them lying on his chest. Good job Tru, you and Shane are incredible! We love you and can't wait to see Ashton and Lindsey when you're ready to take them out! They're beautiful..all their darling hair! Good luck hun, we're thinking of you!

salena said...

Sorry for the double comment, but I just read the rest of your posts on the babies and SO many memories just flooded back to (almost)a year ago!
I seriously cant believe how fast this year has flown by with the babies. Even though its ALOT of work and NO sleep in the beginning(..seriously..I feel for you..its literally NO sleep.)
Anyways, I totally agree with you..even though its alot of work in the beginning, the blessings couldnt be more great. I struggled with BF the first 6 weeks, but in the end pumped until 4 months (suprisingly I got enough milk for them for the day) and then did formula from then on. It can be so discouraging..especially the positioning part for me was hard. I wish you luck in whatever you decide..and I wish you good little eaters! :)
Congrats again you 2! I like how you named them after the both of you!

Ok, there is so much I want to say to you right now. First you are incredible. You have been through so much and look what you guys have been blessed with because of it. I wanted to cry because I am so happy for you and it brought back memories of Bailey.

I think almost everything happened the same for us except the whole two baby thing! That's a big difference, but pretty much everything else was the same. Dialated to a 4 I got to a ten in about 4 hours, I could not stop shaking, but mine was before I deliverd not after, I don't know why. I didn't understand why epidurals were this scary thing, I coudln't feel a dang thing while getting it. I also had Jana as my delivery nurse and I couldn't have been more thrilled. I love her to death, and I did not want to leave. It's so comfortable there and it feels so safe and secure. I didn't want to take my baby out in the world I wanted to keep her safe there where Doctors and Nurses were 24/7.

I just love you to death and I am so so happy for you.

By the way it is great you aren't having many visitors. Bailey is 8 weeks old today and we still don't take her around kids, to church or anywhere for that matter. My brothers twins got RSV last year. There 2 year old brother got them sick so don't worry. But it stresses us out as well. We think it's better safe then sorry.

I love you and would love to come visit when the time is right. I know you are supper busy and the babies are still so young, but I would love to come by when the time is right for you. And I want to help out as much as I can. Being in Salt Lake I'm not down there very often but I can plan trips down and help whenever. Just let me know if you need anything!

Love you and awesome job on the breastfeading by the way. I have thought of you almost every time I feed Bailey. She is still eating every 2 hours and it's been so tireing but 2 babies, I give you so much credit! Good job girl. You are such a great mommy!

Sorry that was so long!

Truly...omg...our stories are so similiar!! it is so crazy! your girls are absolutley precious...you have such a beautiful family!! you are so right when you said that once you meet your babies, all the years of waiting become a long lost memory! it is all so worth it!! i love being a mommy!!

on the breastfeeding issue...while the babies were in the NICU (12 days), they wouldn't let me soley bf because they had to know exactly how much they were eating. so i pumped & fed it by bottle. my goal was to be able to bf once i got home, but the babies just were satisfied...so i was pumping & then feeding & it was just too much for me. i gave up after a few days of being home. i would have loved to have bf the whole time, but i was being worn thin! i give you props if you can do it!!

i am so glad i was given your blog...i look forward to watching ashton & lindsey grow!! best of luck!!
